Bikes for Books
The Fred Stewart’s Bikes for Books Program is a World-wide program that originated in our Lodge! Fred Stewart came up with the idea for rewarding kids for their reading accomplishments by offering bikes as that reward.
George Washington Oratorical Contest
In 1956 Worshipful Brother Robert Rimer started the George Washington Oratorical Contest at the Lodge. Robert was a Principal and knew that public speaking was a key skill that needed fostering in young children. Since then the Lodge has hosted his contest which asks children from K-8th grade to provide an oratory of 3-5 minutes in front of the Lodge. Oh the speakers are amazing!
You can see some of the speakers here:
Leroy Sweat provides a foodbank to nearby schools and families. By collecting canned goods and other food items Leroy can provide some additional sustenance to the families in need around the Lodge.
If you are in need or know someone who is, please contact our secretary who can put you in touch with the manager of Leroy’s Foodbank.
